That's their thing - and they don't want new people joining in on "their thing." Maybe I didn't look the way they wanted me to look. Very disappointing.
It may have nothing to do with you and more to do with a poor infrastructure that prevents the church from accomplishing as much as they'd like to. (Not speaking specifically of this church but of others that I know about.)

We already have a church home but I may check out All Saints just for the music as I like folk music.

I have a follow-up request. I am looking for a diverse, non-denominational church; preferably, a church that is located close to the NE Atlanta and is generally casual.

I hope that isn't too huge of a request.

Wish I could help you cityhopper. Don't know that side of town.

For anyone looking to the WEST of Atlanta, I have just discovered the Church at Chapel Hill in Douglasville. And I LOVE IT!!!

It's a good mix of ethnicities, families, singles. The worship is contemporary. No dressing up. ACTIVE and engaging youth ministry (middle and high school have their own separate area from the adults); younger children have a well-designed area that makes ME want to be a kid again. It's AWESOME.

Try the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta. It's in NE Atlanta, off the access road just past North Druid Hills. A very diverse, progressive and active congregation.

This might sound nuts but try Buckhead Baptist Church. The pastor is open minded, loving and young. He has a lot of older parishioners but is trying to bring in new life. He is not a typical pastor in any way, shape or form. I think you will enjoy him!

Default Trinity Anglican Mission

I like Buckhead Church as well as a much smaller but similar in some ways church called Trinity Anglican Mission in "west Buckhead" near Atlanta Brewing Co. off Defoors Ferry and Collier Roads trinity anglican mission Very casual, Bible based preacher with relevant message - very young and progressive group. Personal feel, music not as loud, and communion every Sunday, yet people are in shorts, sandals, etc. Also have to say on Buckhead Church, going through Starting Point small class and getting in a 'small group' and going to fairly small gatherings of Fusion singles groups made it feel a lot more personal and smaller and helped me and my now wife get a lot more out of it. (we met through some people in her small group and mine getting the two groups together for a social outing)

For Catholic churches, Christ the King Cathedral in Buckhead and Holy Spirit Church are large and seem to be popular and casual at certain services, and probably have activities make them seem more personal and smaller.
