The Border Bash and Arts in the Heart maybe over. But the fun and excitement is just beginning in Augusta....

The main portion of the 10 day festival Westobou gets underway today. Expect the Westobou to draw over 100k easily.. As people flock to see the thriving arts community in Augusta...

This weekend, nearly 5,000 visitors will arrive in Augusta for the ESi Ironman 70.3 Augusta Triathlon, which means big bucks for local businesses.
Bicycle shops, restaurants, hotels see hefty business | The Augusta Chronicle=

The article says 5,000 people, but I'm hearing 6,000 is more accurate. The event takes place the 24th-26th. The actual race is 7:30am on the 26th. There are 3,000 competitors this year compared to the 2,200 last year. 37-38 is the average age of the competitors, average income is 70k-80k, and each person brings about 4 people with them. The estimated economic impact is $4 to $5 million.
