William S. Morris III resigns from GHSU board over Georgia Regents name | The Augusta Chronicle

Now...

Mr. Mayor, city leaders and local/state politicians that were elected by the people in and around Augusta... it would be great if you would get in line with the citizens of Augusta and Mr. Morris, in representing the people that put you there.

So the BOR voted on a name after not even viewing the results of a survey they spent $50,000 on? Do they NOT have any common sense???

SMH, this all smells like a scam. I hope Dr. Azziz keeps his job after all of this.

Local newspaper publisher calls Georgia Regents University name a 'stroke of genius'

"I think it is a stroke of genius on Dr. Azziz's behalf to get them to buy into naming it after them," said local Urban Pro Weekly Publisher Ben Hasan.

Hasan says it was not long ago when questions about the school's future in Augusta made headlines.

"And at this point in time, he has gotten them to turn the page and write a whole new chapter with them governing Georgia Regents University," Hasan said. "I think it is a stroke of genius."

You have an opportunity to weigh in on the name at a community forum this Thursday at noon at ASU. There is a 3 p.m. forum at GHSU. Radio host Austin Rhodes is hosting a protest next Monday on the campus of ASU.

The board took a page out of the Nancy Pelosi handbook... "we have to pass this bill, to find out what's in the bill."

This doesn't surprise me that the vote was taken w/o the survey results being known considering all that has happened so far... they're either lying, didn't care about the results or need to start doing their jobs a little better.

It's pretty funny the choice with 'Augusta' in the name beat out the choices with 'Georgia' included...

I'm not surprised... the names with "Georgia" in them are absolutely horrible! Georgia Regents and Georgia Arts and Sciences?

Georgia A&M or Georgia International are the best remaining possibilities for the "Georgia brand"... truth is, all the other Georgia names have been spoken for already, the good ones at least.
