Augusta leading major Georgia cities in hotel revenue

There is some local good news in the midst of all the economic mess. Augusta is leading all other major cities in Georgia when it comes to hotel revenue. Hotel tax and sales tax revenue is up when most across the nation are talking about a recession.

Who said that? Read the article leading in hotel revenue. If Fulton county is down 2.6 million dollars. And richmond county is up almost a million. Who wins?

It depends on how much money both have in the end. I highly doubt Augusta gets more tourism dollars and hotel revenue than Atlanta.

Augusta is booming with growth. New hotels are popping up all over the place. In richmond county alone. The article didn't say Augusta gets more tourism dollars than atl. It said Augusta leads Atlanta and other major GA cities in hotel revenue. Why do ppl keep thinking Augusta is the same as say 7 or 8 years ago even. We have a mayor in his early 40's who's very progressive. We are turning into a true metropolitan area. Ride down 520 and see some of the growth for yourself.

Good point they're widening 520 from I-20 to wrightsboro rd now. In 2009 they will widen it from gordon hwy to peach orchard. Then you have the south carolina part of 520 palmetto pkwy going on which is all new interstate. I think it finishes in 2009. The cost was over 300 million.
Because of 520 palmetto pkwy North Augusta will outgrown Aiken in the future.

Dude, there are nearly 100,000 hotel rooms in metro Atlanta compared to maybe 5,000 in Augusta. You can't compare the two.
