Since the other thread got me on the topic of skylines....

Downtown has the best, it's certainly not all that spectacular, but it's got the highest concentration of high-rises all within a close distance of each other.

West Augusta doesn't have a skyline, sure, there are a few mid-rise hotels scattered around the interstate, but that is hardly an urban city-like skyline.

Fort Gordon doesn't have a skyline either. About the only high-rise it has is the EAMC and a few (maybe 3) other <10 floor buildings scattered about. The NSA isn't going to do anything for it either, it's going to be less that 5 floors.

How about I add a new location. The hotel skyline off of Washington Rd. As funny as it sounds, if they build just one condo/apartment tower, and just one office tower, that section becomes the best skyline in Augusta.

What do ya'll think?

Idk, I personally think that it takes more than just 2 tall buildings to make a skyline, but that's just me.

The TEE won't, but the Hyatt (being 8 floors) might and probably will.

You're right about that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't our current downtown skyline made of the Lamar Building, Wachovia Building, Sun Trust Building, Port Royal Condos, and (possibly)Ramada?

That's not really a skyline, there's just a few mid-rise buildings, Doctor's Hospital is the ONLY even somewhat tall building in the whole area.

You can see the library from the Calhoun Expressway. It doesn't add to the skyline though. But it does make it seem more urban. The Tee Center and Kroc Center will do the same.
