this thread really hits close to home. Another Midwesterner searching for good pizza in Austin, to no avail. Milto's offers greasy greek, Homeslice and Hoboken are thin and floppy and only appeal after a night at the bars, and East Side Pies...well, I really wanted to like them, but they had the least to offer. All the toppings tasted straight out of a can, and the price was as hard to stomach as the grease. Brick oven is pretty good and convenient for me, but the combinations still lack pizzazz, and we keep getting stuck with a TERRIBLE waitress. I actually think she has some social que disorder.

As much as it pains me to say it, we order pizza hut.

Any Madisonians find anything akin to Glass Nickel or Roman Candle? That spicy fireworks sauce with italian sausage and banana peppers, or the Glass Nickel fetalicious...sigh...

HOWEVER! I have fallen in love with tex mex here and my WI farmer dad still raves about his trip to Franklin Barbeque. So all's not lost in Austin, just good pizza, which is reflected in my shrinking waistline.
