I have a relative that is exactly the same way about Taco Cabana. Oh well, who are we to judge? We give them what they want when they come to town. And they love it.

There are several Olive Garden around town, good salad and breadsticks and some decent apps and thats about it. I would suggest Mandolas in the triangle or several other places but if the lady wants Olive Garden start there to set the bar low.

I agree that it's very Austin. That or Trudy's.

I also take visitors to Salt Like (the original, not 360), Guero's, and Amys.

I second skipping Oasis and going with Uncle Billy's.

Definitely Mt. Bonnell, Barton Springs, the Capitol, While Foods is worth it too- impressive. If the wildflowers are still out, St. Edward's University always had a pretty display and view of downtown.

And I have to laugh at Olive Garden! Not where I'd choose to eat but if she's asking for it... I know of two right off hand- one at S. Lamar and Ben White and the other is on Burnet Rd and 183.
