No small feat, considering it's Bon Appetit that's bestowing the honor.

National magazine names Austin barbecue joint the best in America | kvue.com Austin

I had been meaning to go there for some time, but now it's going to be a 2 hour wait.

Congrats, Franklin!

Eh, I've been there. Feel no burning need to return. And looking at the BBQ creds of the author of that column (from Georgia and then NYC), I issued him an invitation to come on back down and take a BBQ tour of a whole list of places that he should have tried before issuing that proclamation, and then we can talk.

Let the BBQ wars begin!

You know it's just part of a city run marketing campaign to get people to move here and clog up the highways, right?

I'd like to try it, but I can't imagine waiting so long when we have so much great bbq around. The length of the line isn't a problem, but if it's slow moving...

While I'm happy for Franklins and that it is an Austin site. It is pretty hard to believe that anyone has been able to sample all of the BBQ places in the US and give them a fair evaluation to come up with a claim like "Best BBQ in the United States".

I've never been there, but I tend to agree that unless they tried BBQ from EVERY place in the country (or even Central Texas), than they can't really claim it's the best in the nation. And I sincerely doubt that they did that. Not saying it's not great BBQ, just may not be the best int he country.

I've been to many of the great places and all of the central Texas ones. I think Franklins has the best brisket and among the best ribs. Sausage is good but not great.

I hope y'all don't think they are claiming it is literally THE BEST. It's just marketing and journalism, do you really need to state the obvious that they haven't tried every BBQ place in the country?

Yeah, as great as I think it is, it's food...No way to be objective about it. Some people even consider pulled pork to be BBQ. :-)

I know. I never considered pulled pork to be BBQ. I knew it was a North Carolina thing, but to equate it with Texas barbeque! omg..
