That's why I usually book beach vacations in June right after school's out. It's plenty hot enough (90+, this year hotter) and the water is still a cool and refreshing then (upper 70's/low 80's).

Hurricane season doesn't really start heating up until late August/early September, so I never plan a beach vacation in September because of that.

But I'm sure you'll be fine.

The last two times we booked in May & June the beach was heaped with seaweed. They scraped most of it off the first two days we were there

I do miss mountain biking in the evenings though. By the time its not too hot its too dark.
i usually head out there around 6:30PM and it's not too hot... especially if most of the trail is shaded.

The weather records disagree with your claims. In addition to intellicast, Weather.com says there were three days in July so far with highs below 100 degrees. In addition to every day in late June (22nd-30th) with highs 100 degrees. http://www.weather.com/outlook/healt...nthly/USTX0057

Temperatures below 100 are predicted for this weekend as well. Along with Tropical Storm Don.

Ok with tropical storm Don in the picture, I'm adjusting my prediction down by 3 days. I still think we'll make the record this year, but at 71-72 days of >100 degrees total instead of my previous estimate of 74-75 days.

If there is another tropical storm like Don which happens in August, then we'll miss the record.

Doesn't even look like it's gonna come near Austin.....MAYBE just South of Austin but not Central or North of Austin. San Antonio has a better chance of rain than us. If it was gonna hit in Houston our odds would be higher, but since it's headed for Corpus, we won't see anything.

We have to be optimistic! Someone, plan an outdoor picnic for Saturday -- leave the convertible top down -- schedule some roof work -- anything. We need this rain.

It is better for it to pass south of us than north, though...the wet side of a storm is always the north and north west side.....fingers crossed. It isn't very large or organized, though, so I don't know how large an area it will cover. To try and make it rain, I am going to schedule my annual trip to Zilker Park Theater's hillside show for Saturday night.....
