I've just been given some mid-eighties high end stereo equipment made in Germany and since it was previously poorly stored, I need to get an idea a fair asking price.

Does anyone know of where I can get my Revox and Thorens equipment looked at?

Cheers,

JDR

You might try Austin Stereo Service. Not too many true electronics repair shops around anymore. But I used them a long time ago, they did a fine job, and are still in business.

Austin Stereo Service & Repair, Vintage Hi-Fi, Vintage Stereo, Vacuum Tubes

Audio Systems on Koenig does consignment sales. They are located east of First Texas Honda.

I also have some old stereo equipment. They are Dynaco pieces, 70s. A power amp, pre-amp and tuner. I was thinking we would have to go with Ebay, but maybe a local sale is possible. My husband says they are "collectors' items."

Dynaco? Are they tube or solid state?

Too bad. I built a tube set up that was a modified version of some Dynaco pieces. I wouldn't mind restoring an original ST70 so I may have been interested if that was what you had.

Head over to Audiokarma Home Audio Stereo Forums and do a little poking around. It's a big site filled with people who are fans of vintage audio. If you become a subscriber, you get access to "barter town," which is where people buy and sell this type of gear.
