Hi, My family and I are moving to Austin this summer and I am in search of a school in the South Austin area for my 4 year old to attend pre-k in the fall. I have searched the web but am not having much luck. Do most kids attend pre-k here? I would like him to attend mornings only if possible, 3-5 times per week. Do any of the churches offer preschool programs? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Some of AISD schools have Pre K programs but they have certain criteria.Check out their website below

Austin Independent School District : Prekindergarten Program (http://archive.austinisd.org/academics/curriculum/prekindergarten/ - broken link)

Many churches too have these programs.

What part of South Austin will you be in? Do you have a general area yet? There are many good Pre-K programs but to be really helpful, it would be good to get you in a 5 mile radius at least to your area of living.

Thank you for the responses We hope to rent a house in Austin, but far south and west of I-35. My husband will need to commute to New Braunfels regularly and I have found that that area seems to have several well rated public elementary schools which my oldest would attend in the fall. In the area we are currently living, all of the prekinder programs are enrolling now and filling up so I feel like I need to at least get his name on a few lists or preregister for a couple of places or our choices will be very limited once we settle into Austin this summer. Thanks again for all responses. I appreciate all of the ideas and suggestions.
