Hi everyone! My husband and I are both Caucasian and our two adopted young children are African-American. What is the level of acceptance for multi-ethnic families in Austin? We are currently living in Athens, GA where there is a good amount of diversity and acceptance and we're hoping to move somewhere comparable that is out of Georgia. Thanks for any input you can give me!

More, please!

There are quite a number of multi-ethnic families in my neighborhood (Clarksville). It's just not that big of a deal here.

Pflugerville is very diverse, it's a solid working class area and I think nobody will care here.

I think you might have posted this inquiry as well on the Denver board a while back... We moved here from there. We are a multi-ethnic family and have had nothing but good things to say about our experience here in Austin. No one even notices, it seems.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your feedback.
Idlewile, I did post this on the Denver page as well. We are really looking to get out of Georgia (nothing against GA, just really want a change) and we are exploring the possibilities of a few different cities with Austin and Denver in our top 5. Our top 2 factors in our search, aside from the practicals like jobs, houses, schools, are climate and acceptance of our family. Coming from GA, Austin might have an edge in the climate department as I can't handle too cold for too long. But the main thing we want is a place where our family can just be a normal family. In our area in GA, our family is accepted (for the most part) but we're still this sideshow sometimes. In a good way and in a bad way. We'd like to find a place where we just blend a little better, where they can be just kids not always the African-American kids with the white parents.
