We just got the okay from my husband's company to move to Austin once we sell our house here in CA. Since we really don't know where we want to live in Austin we have decided to rent for the first six months to check out our options. I was thinking we would look for a 3 bedroom furnished apartment so we can just store our furniture till we find a house we want to buy. I have no interest in moving twice. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find furnished apartments or companies that deal with those kind of rentals.

Thanks in advance.

Do a search on corporate housing in the Austin area. There are a few companies that specialize in this but they are expensive. I believe our company was paying between 2500 - 3000 for a fully furnished 2 bedroom apartment.

We were dealing with Amber Lodging. There are others out there.

Here are two places that I found when I was doing research for a friend last spring. No direct experience with either place.

Extended Stay Corporate Housing Austin Texas. Families & Pets - AusTex Home Rentals

And

Austin Temporary Housing - Austin Corporate Housing - Austin Short Term Housing (http://www.austintemporaryhousing.com/index.shtml - broken link)

Good luck!

Might also check VRBO dot com. We had some success finding owners who discount rates for extended stays. 6 mos might be pushing it... but a couple non-peak months might be doable for an owner.

When we moved to Austin we stayed in a furnished apartment just off Riverside. I would call an apartment locator and see what they can tell you. That is how we found our place.

eichlerfan,

I came to this forum to post my furnished house for short term rental while I travel out of state. If you're interested in more details, email me at cheesecakewizard @ gmail.com (without the spaces, of course.)
