Interesting link showing where the rain is (and isn't) falling. The heavy rains are all falling in the lower areas of the highland lakes - Lake Austin and down. Would be nice if Buchanan, LBJ, or Travis watersheds would get this.....

Rainfall Summary

Oh, and just at 3 more inches here in SW Austin in the last 12 hours or so....

Here are two other links from the LCRA that show the dramatic difference:

Upper Basin Streamflow (Lake Travis and upstream)
Lower Basin Streamflow (Lake Austin and downstream)

Does anyone know where Brushy Creek ends up? It's not anywhere in the Highland Lakes chain it appears.

Brushy Creek is a tributary of the San Gabriel River.
The folks near Hairy Man Rd and Sam Bass are likely having a difficult night. We haven't had this kind of rain up here since Sept 2010(11-13" in one day). We're in the 3.5" range tonight...on top of ~3" over the past few days. Brushy Creek Rd was closed at one point where it runs even with The Creek.

I got 6" of rain here at my house in East Round Rock yesterday.

In total, I got 12" of rain altogether from 07/08-07/15!

Crazy...

From the LCRA lake web site about 11:00 pm last night:
Quote:
Streamflow Conditions above the Highland Lakes

In the Hill Country, the flow in the streams and tributaries above the Highland Lakes remain low and as a result the lake inflows are minimal. Above Lake Buchanan this Sunday night the Colorado River near San Saba is flowing at 55 cfs. Above Lake LBJ the Llano River at Llano is flowing at 84 cfs while Sandy Creek near Kingsland is flowing at only 2 cfs. Above Lake Travis the Pedernales River near Johnson City is flowing at only 17 cfs

Yeah, I think our rain for last week was somewhere between 8 or 9 inches in SW Austin. We will have to mow the bog when it drains enough.....

A mile or so to the west, we totaled 6-6.5" for the week. Could see more today. I need to check the construction area at Pearson Place and see how high Brushy Creek Lake is. This is the most water we've seen since Sept 2010(in one stretch that is).
