Ok, my experience. They charged me $90 per each vehicle, plus registration and some other fees. Total for 2 cars and motorcycle sums up in about $530...

$90 for each vehicle you bring to Texas.

I had a motorcycle trailer that I brought to Texass. It weighs about 300lbs and is worth $200 bucks. Guess who had to pay $90 bucks to bring that "vehicle" to Texass?

I really hate that kind of taxing.

If you purchase a car from out of state you have to pay sales tax, but if you trade in a car against that purchase can you offset that amount and only pay the difference? - as you would if the transaction was in state?

So if you move to Texas from Arizona, there is no sales tax collected in Texas when you register the vehicle. Because the Sales tax paid in Arizona when registering it there, is more than it is in Texas. Am I understanding this right.

Yes. But you will pay a $90 first time registration fee.

Doubled for Yankees. Just kidding

Moving from that hole out west right?

$90 tax (one time)
$53.75 registration (annual)
$29ish inspection (2 years)

Must have TX insurance prior to doing all that.

Sure beats the annual $300+ bite

We paid $187 in total ($4 or so was credit card fee) to register each of our 2 cars in January. This was separate from the $29 paid for inspection at a different location. I cant remember the breakdown. The lady told me that going forward, we would be paying ~$60 annually. FWIW, we moved from CA in december

Nope, we are coming form the hole up north, chiraq ( aka chicago )..i practically buy all my inventory for my business from austin, san antonio, and dalllas..Mostly from austin though .. thats the reason for the move (save on freight shipping cost) as for illinois, we pay 115 for registration and 60 bucks for some "village sticker" in our window. The thing is , my vehicle tag expires in may :/ and I will have to waste 115 , just to keep my tags up to date for one month
