Hello all !

This will be our first Valentines Day here in Austin and I am curious as to what any of you "more seasoned" Austinites would recommend for a good Valentines day eatery to take my wife. THANKS IN ADVANCE as I know time is a tick'n

It might be hard to find reservations if you are looking for a nice place.

What kind of food? There are dozens of nice restaurants that would work. We've done Fogo de Chao before and it was nice.

why not make a back-up reservation on Opentable quickly, and then sort out picking a final place.

Hey guys thanks for the responses already !!......Open to all suggestions......favorite would be Mexican, Italian, American (Steaks, barbeque....etc) , sushi, and chinese / japanese in this order.
Type of food is secondary to the experience as a whole......location, scenery, atmosphere.

THANKS AGAIN

If it's a lunch you're after, the weather is supposed to be perfect on Thursday. We'll likely shoot for a place with a view...at least somewhere open to the outdoors.

If my husband wanted to make me very happy for Valentine's Day, he'd take me to either Chez Nous or Green Pastures. Or maybe Fonda San Miguel.

Maybe i am just old, but we are putting it off until Saturday and not worrying about curtailing our fun because it is a weeknight. El Naranjo on Rainey St has reservations right now for Sat night at 7:45. Traditional interior Mexican food - NOT Tex-Mex (not that I don't love my Bob dip and smoked chicken enchiladas at Matt's). Nice spot - above average in every category. You won't go wrong, and besides, you can hit Rainey St afterwards.

Doesn't mean there won't be cards, and flowers, and presents on Thursday - I said I'm old, not stupid.
