I don't know, London looks like a possibility; will they name the league the IFL?

I wouldn't laugh so hard. London is a very real possibility. Roger Goddell is looking for every revenue stream he can find. If the NFL can establish a presence in Europe, suddenly rights of every kind - TV, merchandise, sponsorships - move to a whole new level.

The three games there now are a test. As soon as they think there is a ticket market for eight home games, it will happen. You have to remember, the same guy owns the Premiership side, Fulham and the Jacksonville Jaguars - prime candidates for a move.

At any rate, London will see a team before Austin.

I can see Austin maybe getting an MLS team at some point, but never one of the big 4.

Why is it so hard for people to get used to the idea that questions get repeated. And why do people let it bother them so much..Seriously, why?

Without repeat questions this website would be dead.

There was this thing called NFL Europe (remember?) and London had a team for a couple years....

Didn't last.

As someone who actually attended NFL Europe games, I can tell you it was a third tier product, at best. Taxi squad players, folks that couldn't make an NFL roster, etc. I saw UT's James Brown at QB for Frankfurt, for pete's sake. Europeans get live NFL games on Sunday, and knew what they were getting was a sham. To equate that to the NFL is ludicrous. It would be like saying a city's Lingerie Football League attendance is indicative of the viability of an NFL franchise.

Why on earth would anybody want an NFL team? It costs the city money for stadiums and infrastructure, creates traffic, and has no benefit.

Well said. Also, if they searched and found the other threads and commented on them, someone else would get all up in arms over an old thread being re-upped, even if new information was asked/provided. Newbies just can't win around here between the two camps.

I just don't see it happening. Austin is too close to major cities like Houston and San Antonio to be ever considered for being an NFL city. I hear some posters saying an MLS team would be better but keep in mind that there are already two MLS teams in the state of Texas. Even if Austin was awarded an NFL team, wouldn't it hurt the college football attendance? I don't think it would be fair for the Longhorns to have to compete against an NFL team in their own city.
