Yep. That sounds right. Tarrytown definitely ends at 35th.

What would you call the area around, say, Bull Creek and Hancock?

Rosewood may sound right but if you are a fan of accuracy, the neighborhood is called Rosedale. I provided a link a few messages back that you may find useful.

Attached is a map that clearly points out the area in question. The specific itersection you are now inquiring about is on the North/South border of the Allendale and Rosedale (or Allenwood & Rosewood if you prefer) neighborhoods.

Hey all, new to Austin and trying to figure out where to be. So far I like Allendale and Rosedale best and will be looking initially for a rental or lease, which seems to be hard to find (or i am looking in the wrong sources). Anyone know of a lead, and preschool recommendations would be invaluable! Thank so much...

JessHerring-You can join the yahoo listserves for both neighborhoods to find rentals and recommendations for just about everything.

Are you here yet? If so, I would suggest just driving around and calling- right now, there are a few houses for rent in Rosedale, and they seem to go very quickly! The yahoo group listserves are a good place to start, but you may have to post a request. My husband and I found a Rosedale house that way when we needed a short-term rental during our remodel.

We're renting a place (starting in August) that is in the bryker woods area--I think this is what you call it...that's our elementary school. Anyway, we found our place from a yard sign. I suggest drive around and call, as someone else did. Also, we found a couple of places on craigslist.

We called just a few hours after the landlord put the sign out and signed the lease in less than 48 hours. They go do quickly. Ours was a 2-1, duplex, $900/month.
