So... Im considering a visit out here on spring break.

Last spring break i went to portland and loved it.

Im wondering how Austin will compare.

I have done a lot of research and believe that it will meet the criteria i am looking for based upon the fact that I want to have culture/music/tech

Im worried about the summers though. I am not fond of the heat, and its pretty brutal in Tallahassee during the summer.

Can anyone compare?

The only thing similar about the weather in Portland, OR and Austin, TX is the humidity level. If you don't like hot summers then Austin isn't for you, IMO.

If you're not fond of heat, please re-think Austin. It can get brutally hot here for 5 months of the year. You have higher humidity in Florida which is a different kind of uncomfortable, but hot is hot, and Texas has a lot of it! If you come during spring break, the nicest time of year, you'll love it. Come in August when it's over 100 and you'll get a whole different perspective.

Austin is WAY hotter than Tallahassee. Take it off your list.

Summer temperatures are only slightly higher than Tallahassee, but afternoon humidity is lower.

Austin

Tallahassee
