We are looking for safe neighborhoods in Cedar Park or surrounding areas that are safe areas. Good schools and safety are a must and with relocating we're feeling a little overwhelmed. We'd like to stay in the $300,000 or less range if possible. Any neighborhood names? I find we tend to like newer homes versus old homes and I do like neighborhoods with a pool or near a pool.

I stumbled on a few neighborhoods that I was wondering about: Cold Springs, Mayfield Ranch, Forest Oaks

Thank you all so much!

Both Mayfield Ranch and Cold Springs are fairly well bound by high speed highways; so in that regard, might be a little less youngster friendly. Forest Oaks is next to a fantastic school complex and has ingress/egress in four directions...just seems a bit more family friendly to me. Forest Oaks has easy access to the Brushy Creek Trail and the Twin Lakes Y, not to mention 183 A. We pet visit in Mayfield and Forest Oaks and I personally like some of the 'neighborhoods' while some are pretty bland. More Hardi-plank in Forest Oaks, some showing the wear of the past 10 years or so(especially north of Park St). Makes the neighborhood look a little drab; but I think the various siding colors are nice when kept up.

Tough call...all the areas you mention have newish(if not brand new) construction...different school assignment, so you might check into the actual schools served by each.

As important as the price, you size requirements will partially dictate the success of your search. While there might be plenty of new construction in your price range, the cost per square foot might put you in something smaller than you desire.

Have you looked at Silvarado Ranch? We like it pretty well, and it has a great community pool and shade covered wading pool (I posted pictures of them months ago; just search for "Silvarado"). It feels very safe. We've left bikes and stuff out all night sometimes, and they're never taken. I even accidentally left my garage door wide open one night and it was fine. And you can walk to Henry Middle school and Vista Ridge High. Elementary is Reagan. Those schools are all rated well. I just saw one house for sale there, right now: 2200 Old Sterling Rd, Cedar Park, TX 78613 | MLS# 9528716 | Redfin.

We'd like to at least have 2,000 square feet if possible. Thanks for your help! These are great areas to get me in the right direction.
