Ugh. The tap water here is horrid!

Guess it's all in what you're used to.

Really? It smells like sulpher or has visible particles floating around in it? You might want to check your pipes or travel more.

I live in 78703 right now and absolutely love it. Between being isolated yet close enough to the city, quaint homes, and the ability to see the city skyline, I love the Clarkesville area.

That's the point; I am well-traveled and lived all over and Austin's water is terrible in contrast to the last few places I've lived. It's the taste. And it's not the pipes as I have lived in three homes in Austin and all had the same gross water. Thank goodness for water filters.

Well, we will have to disagree. Austin also consistently wins large municipality water taste tests -- so much so they were bottling it for resale which led to a scandal several years ago.

It's all subjective. I LOVE the QOL of where I'm at now.

This bit about the tap water reminds me of when a friend from Germany came to visit. She kept saying the tap water here had a strong smell of chlorine (apparently they don't use it as a tap water disinfectant in Germany). She thought something was wrong with her hotel room's water, and I remember I bent over to smell the water and shook my head like "No, I don't smell anything funny.", and she said "I can't believe you don't smell the chlorine!". I guess we are just used to it.

Strange question. This infers that there are some areas that are not clean, have poor water quality, and high pollution. Lots of people have asked where the good schools are - and overly simplistic question - and what areas are walkable. But "good quality" stores: what does that mean? I am wondering if this person is really trying to ask "Where are the expensive, high status places for a snob to live, where I don't have to be exposed to regular people?"
