My daughter is planning a winter wedding (fiance graduates from UT in December and they want to get married then move to wherever he gets a job).

I was wondering if anyone has been to an especially cool, Austiny but elegant wedding and could recommend the location. We're considering Villa Antonia but it has several draw-backs. Vintage Villas is too small (need space for 200+ guests indoors.) The Driskill is probably too expensive (budget is $15,000) What about any locations on the UT campus?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

The place I got married wasn't in austin but it's only about an hour away in Marble Falls. They have wedding packages that include a good amount (except catering) for $6000 and the place is gorgeous!! The ceremony is held at one location and the reception center is actually in the town because the ceremony site is actually a residence and they didn't want out-of towners driving down the unlit road at night. Here's the website...

good luck with the wedding plans!!!

You can rent the various rooms in the Alumni Center to be actually on the campus. Other venues nearby are: The Scottish Rite Theater, Bob Bullock Museum, Caswell House, Mansion at Judges' Hill, Texas Federation of Women's Clubs "The Mansion".

The problem with Austin is that things get booked so far in advance. Hopefully, you'll have better luck with it being in winter. Depending on how close the wedding will be to UT graduation, you may want to book your blocks of rooms early for out of town guests. December graduation at UT is not as big, but there will be competion for hotel rooms that weekend.

What about Star Hill Ranch? My sister got married there and it was gorgeous and very reasonably priced.

Another great place is Green Pastures. VERY old Austin, and beautiful with huge oaks and peacocks strolling the grounds. They have weddings there almost every week.

My company had their Christmas Party at Mansion at Judges Hill. Great winter location. I thought it was very Romantic.

ALso I went to a wedding this weekend at the Salt Lick...It might normally be seen as a warm weather location but it was cold and I think the grounds, while western/rural are actually quite beautiful. Check it out!
