Would I likely be able to bring one of the $3 salad packages that HEB sells past TSA at Austin airport? TSA rules are unclear. The salads have little containers of dressing, which TSA seems to not like. Anybody have experience? I guess a Subway sandwich would pass, but I prefer a salad.
Flying Southwest during lunchtime, and peanuts are not enough.

Salad Dressing

Carry On Bags: Yes (Less than 3.4oz/100 ml allowed)
Checked Bags: Yes
Salsa and Sauces

Carry On Bags: Yes (Less than 3.4oz/100 ml allowed)
Checked Bags: Yes

I would just print that and bring it with. It doesn't matter which airport it is.

I brought a larger order of Popeye's Mashed Potatoes through ~2 years ago - they were confiscated.

Right? That's ridiculous.

I'd do what JimmyP said. TSA employees like to trip, so if you have documentation, you should be good.

There are a lot of places to eat once you get past the security check so I typically just pay the inflated price for food. There are salad and sandwich options. Your $3 salad will probably be $9 there, but it's worth it to me for the convenience. I always bring an empty reusable water bottle with me through security and fill it up using the filtered water bottle station at the food court once in the terminal.

If you really want to delay yourself, go ahead and start waving a printout in one of those idiots faces. They’re morons that couldn’t get a real LE job, but now have overreaching authority in their little worlds.

That salad is not worth the hassle.

"Idiots"?

"Morons"?

This is how you view working people?

I can only imagine how you view the unemployed.

.

Misconception... TSA agents are NOT 'people'...

I've had peanut butter (the little tubs you get with pretzels or carrots, don't recall there being an ounce listed) taken from me before. Been yelled at for a few Drops of water in a bottle.... who knows what those sub-human entities will deem a hazard. Last time it was sunscreen (as in, applied sunscreen... claimed it contained the same chemicals as used in the manufacture of bombs.)

I don't understand how we, the people of a nation, allow our Government to continue pushing an agency that is proven, over and over again, to be 3% effective. They fail 97% of all "tests".... you think you'd have a job if you failed 97% of the time?
