There are no homes there, just the steiner ranch steakhouse.

Note the orange dot is the landfill location. The large circle is the landfill buffer. The landfill is smaller than the steiner ranch steakhouse.

Interesting find nonetheless, thanks for posting it.
That was another "clean fill" landfill.

Most folks think land fill means “garbage dump”. Are all those locations on that interesting map old garbage dumps?
Clean landfills have been a thing for centuries. Look at NYC’s Manhattan, not to mention Boston, Galveston, and San Francisco.

But yeah, access to the airport from East Austin makes that area the best contender. But the Domain would be doable especially when the Ed Blustein expressway is finished.

Don’t know why a young single professional would want to live in Steiner Ranch though, with little for them to do compared to the others mentioned.

Reread the OP, he says he's traveling 80% of the time, which means he is flying in and out of Austin weekly.
Read cbach's post. Hardly a wasteland.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Grateful that you would all take the time to help me with my decision.I literally just put a deposit on an apt in SR yesterday as i had no idea anyone responded to my post. I was just notified today that i had feedback.

The draw of SR is clearly the lake. Living by the lake would be nice especially if i choose to get a boat in the next couple of years (still have to research that). Additionally i can get a two bedroom and make a home office for the same price as a one bedroom at the domain. I found out that the account i'm working on will not require me to travel all that much so i have the option from working from home a few days a week. But it seems i may have to look at central Austin for larger apts for reasonable prices.

Just out of curiosity, is the traffic in SR bad all the time or just peak hours?

I'd take a hard look a the boat clubs, before investing in one yourself. It'll give you an idea of what you want/use.

Years back I wanted to buy a ski boat and did a year with a boat club. I discovered that I ended up using the pontoons a heck of a lot more (although I had kids, which was the primary factor), so I ended up buying a 'toon.

Also, your trips to the lake would likely be off traffic times - it's easier to drive that way, than it is to commute down the hill. The trip from Steiner to the airport is ridiculously bad - the one that will kill you is coming home, then spending another 1.5 hours in traffic if you land at the wrong time.
