Wow, please be kind. She's a busy single mom looking for advice on where to live, not to be schooled on her grammar mistakes.

Welcome, OP. If you liked Round Rock when you visited, I think the northern suburbs would be a good place to start to find things within your budget. Lots of activities for kids. Southwest Austin has a lot of great neighborhoods that might work for you, too.

Four bedrooms and 2.5 baths can be had in the Northern burbs of Austin yet within your budget. I suggest you look at Hutto in particular, as well as Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander, Cedar Park. We left Hutto a year ago and sold a 2970 square foot 5 bdr/4ba home within your budget and within walking distance to elementary and high school. The communities vary quite a bit, in fact each neighborhood can vary quite a bit within the communities. We loved our neighborhood (Enclave at Brushy Creek) while there were others that we were not as fond of nearby.

If you want another school option, I highly encourage you to look at Gateway Prep in Georgetown. Our kids thrived there while we had some issues in the local elementary with our son. It was child specific and I don't have bad things to say for Hutto schools overall, just they weren't what we were used to when we moved there from another state.

When we left Hutto last year I tried the DFW metro area. I couldn't do it. The traffic, the congestion, the size of it all... I realized there are 7.2 million people there and it was about 7.1 million more than I could stand. Can't give you any great advice there except I have two friends in Denton, TX (far north burb) and they love it.

There are a number of real estate agents on here regularly (including the one we used to move to Texas from Wisconsin five years ago) that can help provide more info on home specifics. The market remains very strong there and you will need to have a good idea what and where you want so when the time comes you can move quickly on a place you like.
