Hello! I got a job in Cedar Park this week. Unfortunately, my family & I will be unable to visit the area before moving there & will have to set up a place online. I don’t mind up to a 20 min max commute to work to find the best fit for a place to live for us. I see several choices near Cedar Park like Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander, Hutto, etc. I kindof want a city/town that is a little separate from all the suburbs running together (that feels like it’s own place & where people know their neighbors more!) but I don’t have to have that. I heard Cedar Park has a lot of parks & we definitely need a place with lots of nature/parks/etc.. We’d like a place that feels like a real community. Of course good schools are very important for my 8&9 year old. Good restaurants, etc, are a plus. What are known to be the best places for families in that area? Looking forward to living in Texas. My husband will graduate in Feb with his electronic engineering tech degree so an area with opportunity for work for him is also very important (we need to set something up now tho... can’t wait til he graduates).

This.

Round Rock has a better downtown but as far as park & greenery amenities I don't think they're much different. Round Rock will put you very border line on your 20 min commute. Georgetown is closer to 35 mins.

Well, There is a big blur when figuring out where Austin ends and Cedar Park begins and where Cedar Park ends and Leander begins, etc etc. There is one place where you could tip-toe and see Cedar Park, Austin, Leander, Georgetown and Round Rock from you perch.

Where in Cedar Park will you be working? You might avoid a LOT of traffic by moving one or two miles in the 'right' direction.
