I am considering moving to Austin. I work remotely in IT. Looking for a safe and quiet area to live in. Not fond of traffic. Don't need to drive much since I work from home. What are some areas in Austin to consider to rent a 1B apartment? I also prefer new/newer apartment buildings. Recommendations for areas and apartment complexes please. Thank you.

Budget is $1500 or less. I had been to Austin 18 years ago. Why Austin? Job opportunities for IT workers like me (in case I need to make a job change & have to go into an office). I am tired of snow. Before I move to Austin or any other place, I would first come spend a week or two in the area to look around since I can work remotely from a hotel.

If it matters, schools don't matter. No young children in the picture.

If newer apartments, check around Lakeline area, mainly around eastern Lakeline Mall Dr. There are a slew of new ones that went up there. Also check along Parmer Ln (Jollyville and McNiel area) ... I don’t believe those are terribly old. Cedar Park, Round Rock and Pflugervillle can be considered as well. Those locations will be a decent commute if you decide to go into inner Austin. I’m unsure how the rents are closer to town for newer units.

There are several brand new complexes at 183/airport that would get you downtown in like 15 minutes tops. The views aren’t great though. At nexus east you might see the skyline but nothing scenic. Come down at explore. Things have changed in 18 years.
