You are correct.

And per KVUE, we are the worst city in the US to work a 7.25/hr job. I understand OP is getting disability, but this is worth noting. You may be able to make it with your family support, but individually it fouls be really tough, like food banks, utility assistance, rental assistance, affordable housing wait list hard.

I'm gonna be living in Pflugerville which I hear is cheaper to live than Austin, we found a 2 BD/2 BA apartment for $900 a month.

It really sounds like you’ve made your decision already. Good luck.

Yeah. When I was renting, 2Br / 2Ba were solidly going for $1,400 - $1,800 depending on the apartment and neighborhood. Can’t help but wonder if this is Pandemic pricing? That is insanely cheap.

The lowest prices in rents, historically, are between December and the first week of March. I had red somewhere that the best week to get the lowest rent is Super Bowl weekend. I get nosy about some of my favorite properties and saw the ones I like in mueller are going for about $1200-$1400 right now. In the summer they’re about $1800. My complex’s prices went down significantly on the regular non-upgraded units (yards, extra window, more storage). The upgraded units are still pretty pricey.
