How many unvaccinated hospitalized in Texas are illegals who crossed the border infected and wanted hospital care in the U.S? NYC is pnly having 3 covid hospital deaths a week on average now, but it's terrible no matter how many die.

So glad you do. Yeah, if you ended up in the hospital, you'd be in those normal beds that are only at 30% capacity

The vaccinated are more likely to spread it because when they get the Delta variant they can have mild or no symptoms, so they don't get tested, and they spread the Delta variant easier. A Moderna vaccinated, asymptomatic guy in Vegas unknowingly spread covid to 60 people!

Another reason is the virus tries to fight the vaccine and becomes stronger and mutates in the vaccinated as the vaccine efficacy wanes. The vaccine might even cause the vaccinated's natural immune system to malfunction also. The vaccine only gets one part of the virus, the natural immune system gets to other parts of the virus.

The above is what I read on other sites, not my theories.

On Friday, there were only 13 available ICU beds for for the entire 11 county Austin area. That went up to 16 today. That's only 16 total ICU beds for 2.3 million people.

That won't be available for some time - Delta is too new and it will take a while to compile the data even when it trickles through to deaths. From Europe, it doesn't look to be noticeable more (or less) lethal than the previous versions.

it is a bit of hand waving.

21% of the ICU patients are covid, the rest are normal ICU patients.

that isnt how vaccines work. Your immune system is a giant random protein generator. You get millions of random combinations of peptide sequences that your antibodies can bind to.

When you get a vaccine you either get some viral proteins directly or you get mRNA which your body uses to produce viral proteins. Either way, it stimulates your immune system to react to viral proteins. This is slow the first time. Subsequent times you encounter the viral proteins (e.g. a booster or getting infected) your body reacts a lot faster. This prevents the virus from replicating as much as the first time.

When a virus mutates it typically is only going to change a little bit. So your immune system will still remember parts of the virus and be able to react quickly.

Over time each time the virus mutates it spreads again. People will mostly have a partial immune response which lessens the symptoms and will generate full immunity to that variant.

This is essentially what cold viruses do.

Influenza is a bit different as it has major chunks that can swap in and out cause major changes each year create dramatically different looking versions.

i have seen preliminary estimates of .08% (about like the flu) but the articles were badly written and did a poor job of distinguishing between the CFR in the entire population vs unvaccinated people only

My question to you is why wouldn't you think the ICU beds would fill up with such a miniscule capacity? It's just math. And I think they normally run these at about 80% capacity. Hospitals are run like businesses. Not sure what to tell you. I don't run around screaming the sky is falling when I see things like this and just look at it logically. Of course, you and I both know the hospitals aren't even close to filling up.
