From what it sounds the shooting took place well into the wee hours of the night. The train doesn’t run that late.

I heard the gunshots around 9:25pm, followed my more sirens than I could count and an hour's worth of helicopter searching(all those "responder" sounds moved toward 620 fairly quickly).

Un-subs were in an SUV from the reports; so maybe not train related at all.

And how quickly people forget that shootings aren’t new to Avery Ranch.

I've been here 14 years and am aware of "only" two shootings in the "Ranch".

Technically, Northwoods is not part of Avery Ranch(but paid to use the name and logo).

Sadly, I was correct.

3 if you include R@BC, and another 18 between 2010 and 2019 that were self inflicted.

Probably highest profile was the Yazdi case where he shot a kid running away from him.

Crime in Austin has truly become a city-wide problem this year.

It really hasn’t if you look at actual stats.

I fully agree that stats may show differently and Austin is not yesteryear's South Central LA, but perception is a powerful thing nonetheless.

But how much crime goes unreported now with the more “relaxed” protocols, just like traffic accidents that have no police on hand making reoorts?

“Stats” can be played with and manipulated in this city, like the crime stats in AISD were fudged in the 1970s & 80s.
Not to mention AISD being the only school district in America up until that time to be indicted for felony crimes involving ORE’s record-keeping. Found guilty after pleading the felonies down to misdemeanors.

When it comes to the CoA and AISD, never trust anything they say without verification.
There is a reason the city’s politicians reject any independent audits.

Perception is like visual radar. It’s not accurate.
