Unfortunately the commuter rail, that is not yet operational, is not scheduled to stop in Cedar Park. Instead there are stops at Lakeline Station (about 6 miles away) and Leander Station (about 4 miles away). I understand the necessity of both of these stops, Leander (population of about eleven thousand) being the end of the line and Lakeline (about 4 miles away), which is also a bus transfer and servicing the Lakeline Mall. Of course it makes more sense to Capital Metro to have a stop at the struggling Highland Mall and another about a mile or so away at Crestview Station to service a new condo project, as opposed to servicing the 60,000 plus citizens of Cedar Park, one of the fastest growing areas of the state and one of the highest recommended places to live in the country. Of course the bus route situation is no better in that the buses servicing this area are all express routes that only stop at, you guessed it, Leander and Highland, instead of servicing the population center of the area in Cedar Park. The business considerations of the park and ride areas should not override the needs of the majority of the population in the area.

Cedar Park opted out of the CapMetro Service Area awhile back is the reason there are no trains or buses there. If you are interested in public transportation CP is not the place to go and frankly since almost all of it is low density development it really isn't suited for it.
