I actually would like to move to Lakeway but the speed traps keep me out. I'm actually VERY concerned about people speeding in neighborhoods but rather than having reasonable speed limits that are enforced, the whole place is a speed trap. So, I spend my money in Bee Cave, keep to a normal 35-40 (when not on a residential street- then lower) and reasonable speeds everywhere else.

that's gonna be tough. The lakes, views, etc. is sprawlescent. Everywhere west of town in hill country is seperated by half-mile stretches of scrub.

I lived in Lakeway from 1986-1998. We enjoyed most of our time there, but it isn't for everyone.

For the person who said it is limestone monotony - do you have eyes? Sure there is plenty of limestone. But there is plenty of stucco, brick, and other (non-limestone) types of stone houses. Great variety of architecture.

My biggest problem with Lakeway is that it is a very controlling community. This is not the place to live if you want to build a fence without getting approval of every aspect of your design.

I eventually moved out of Lakeway to Spicewood because we wanted more room, less interference from the city, etc. Lakeway still has a significant population of retirees - so they influence city government significantly. They are most of the volunteers - and they are very active. They do some very good things. The city park is great, their pool is nice, etc.
