Are there any places in Austin that serve Mexican food like Roberto's in California? I do like Tex Mex, but I sure am missing Roberto's!!

I use to live off of Roberto's and Alberto's when I was in High School in the San Diego area, but after a couple of bad experiences I sort of gave it up in College. If you're anywhere near UT, I've found that El Chilito on Manor and Chango's on Guadalupe are sort of similar, but not quite the same. I can't say that I've been searching those places out though as I now prefer the Tex-Mex offerings here in Austin.

Maybe I can post some more information on the type of place that Roberto's is. I do think it's unique to Southern California because I haven't seen really similar places in Northern California either. I'm not sure if it's even similar to "interior Mexican" (correct me if I'm wrong).
A popular order there is just three rolled tacos (taquitos) covered in Guacamole and sour cream. Another is a big carne asada filled burrito with guacamole and salsa inside it. It's wrapped in paper and not a wet burrito. Jamaica and Horchata are normally available as drinks. Normally these places have minimal seating with walk-up and drive-through windows. You order at the counter and are not served.

The Eastside has some authentic Mexican Mom and Pop places, but they aren't very publicized. You kinda just end up running in to them when you're over there.

I really haven't seen this sort of mexican food in Austin. El Chilito is great in its own way, but it is not an Albertos/Robertos type place. Taqueria Arandas on Burnet is the closest I've found, but it still isn't the same.

Oh man do I miss the carne asada burrito from roberto's. That thing must weigh 5 pounds. Nothing beats Roberto's imo.
