Georgetown's population is currently, agreed, a hair under 50,000, but unlike Round Rock, it's not attached to Austin in such a way that you have to have a map in some areas to know whether you're in Austin or Round Rock.

But somehow, despite Wolf Ranch and Rivery (put in, mainly, at the behest of newcomers who didn't want to drive the extra ten to fifteen minutes to get to those chain store amenities in Round Rock), it still retains its small town feel. Quite an accomplishment, I think!

Oh, it is one of the closest things around that has a small town feel. But do you remember when you couldn't see ANYTHING in GT from the interstate except McDs and the G'town Inn? And the big grocery store was Piggly Wiggly with a Gibsons next door? And TG&Y down the street a bit?

Hi, we are just closing on a house in the Villages of Berry Creek and are moving in three weeks. I went house hunting a couple of weeks ago looking into Georgetown, Round Rock and Leander. I loved GT! I has a small town feel, a cute square, wonderful park and a great rec center, plus the university. We have two girls age 10 and 6, so our priorities were safety and amenities for kids. Let me know if yo uhave any questions.

Ksea....Do you have info on the elementary school for Berry Creek? I have a three yr old. Are there several kids elementary age in Berry Creek? I looked there and seem to be going back to it after looking at other areas. Pretty neighborhood, but did visit the golf clubhouse and management told me the neighborhood is really for closer to retirement age group. I have been told differently from these posts. Just have not been there to scan neighborhood for kids yet. Trying to sell home here, so have been staying around for showings.
I do love the GT square too...which is what we have here in Collierville TN.
Thanks for response

I checked on schol ratings and it is rated recognized, which is the second highest rating. It is a smaller school but seems to have go student to teacher ratio. Check out their web site.
Welcome to Jack Frost Elementary!
I hope there are kids there! I can let you know in a couple of weeks
I hear that Georgetown Villages is a great neighborhood for families with young kids, but homes there were more expensive than we wanted to pay.

Ksea..thanks for the info..I will check out the school site. And after you visit school let me know your thoughts.
I have considered Georgetown Villages too, nice for family with young kids....we are a bit older with young one. 40's..ha! I have a son going to college this year also. He is staying in TN due to scholarships. The villages neighborhood did not seem as pretty as Berry Creek IMO. Seemed more cookie cutter with less trees.
I do check out the homes for sale in Berry Creek just about every day via web and some prices seem a little high, but will keep on with the search.
Good luck on your move and hope you got a good deal on your home. Thanks so much for your replies.

This is funny... We currently live in South Carolina, but we are from Tn as well.. We mveod from Cordova about 5 years ago. Now we are planning a move to TX... I posted about berry Creek, and I see you all have some knowledge of that neighborhood.. what is the deal with all the sections? We are deciding between two homes, one in Reserve at BC and one in Coves of BC...what is the difference???? we think the neighborhood is beautiful, I just hope we find a few kids for my 7 and 5 year olds to play with. I am also not too sure about the elem. school (why do they go to different schools for K-2 and then 3-5?), but trying to have a good attitude about it since no other neighborhood in GT appealed to us. We dont want to go any further towards Austin because my hubby will actually be working in Temple, and GT is far enough!!!

That's why we live in Hutto, because my husband also commutes to Temple. I seriously doubt you're going to have a hard time finding kids to play with in G'Town as there are lots of them around. I don't live in G'Town but do have several friends with kids who do and we go to the parks too and there are always a lot of kids out and about. I really don't know all the neighborhoods around there or where these kids live but they ARE there

hmbaud64..I really don't know why school is split like that...maybe building too small? Not sure...maybe someone else here knows.
Small world that your from TN (Cordova) We live in Collierville. Are you familiar?....and trying to find the same in Austin...that is why I gravitated to GT. Cute town. I too am looking for more info on schools.
Do you have a house to sell in SC? Waiting for ours to sell. Good luck on your search.
