Hello everyone,

We have the best corned beef restaurant in Wisconsin called Jakes. It's known for it's moist and flavorful sandwiches. I know that a lot of places put thousand island dressing on their sandwiches, but Jake's put mustard on their sandwiches.

Do you have any good corned beef/Reuben restaurants in Austin?

Thank you.

Dawn

I'm originally from NY so I'm always looking for a great corned beef/pastrami sandwich. You're not going to have much luck here, one of the best Reubens I've found so far is at the Hyde Park Bar & Grill (and it's just ordinary). I've heard Manny Hattan's is good too but I can't bring myself to go there (yet).

I've come to accept the fact that great corned beef and pastrami have been replaced by the best brisket and sausage on the planet! It's not so bad

Let me preface by saying I don't like reubens and can't tell you if one is good or not, but my husband really likes the ones at NeWorld Deli on Guadalupe.

They even have a picture of it on their home page.

I've been to Mannyhattans and wasn't all that impressed by the food for the price. That being said, I've also been to Jason's deli, and while the prices weren't incredibly cheap, I did feel like I was getting better value for my dollar. The sandwiches were tasty and enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend at least trying them out.

I've only been to Mario's Deli once years and years ago, but it's been in the same location for what seems like forever. Maybe someone can give an opinion on their food, Reubens in particular. I notice that theirs are made with mustard (not that you couldn't request that anywhere).

I forgot to mention that the Reuben at Hyde Park Bar is a pastrami Reuben so that may not be what you're looking for.

I've also heard that Spec's makes a good one but haven't tried it either. Now I have an excuse to check it out! (like I need an excuse)

I've had the Reuben at Mario's and it's very good. I can't speak for its authenticity, but I enjoyed it. Everything I've ever had there was good.
