Received this email this morning and thought I'd share here for anyone interested in SH 45:

------------

Neighbors:

In an attempt to get the attention of our local government officials, a grass-roots, neighborhood rally is planned for this Friday, September 11th, from 8 am to 8:30 am, near to the corner of Slaughter Lane and Brodie Lane. The organizing group is from the Shady Hollow neighborhoods and they have asked other Oak Hill area neighborhoods for their support.

A comprehensive history of the SH 45 project and specific to SH 45 SW can be found here: http://www.campotexas.org/pdfs/SH45S...ies_052709.pdf

The local neighborhoods surrounding Brodie Lane continue to pressure our elected officials at CAMPO (CAMPO - Home - www.campotexas.org) for their support of building the section of SH 45 between MoPac and east of FM 1626. Currently most of the traffic on Brodie Lane comes from people who live in northern Hays County and have no other way to get to work or school in Austin. So they take the 2 lane Brodie that drives them through Shady Hollow to Slaughter and then most people cut over on Slaughter to MoPac.

Voters approved the financing of this section of SH 45 SW several years ago and CAMPO recently reevaluated the planned roadway in a sub committee, but without continuous pressure on the CAMPO Board, they have the tendency of letting projects in the southwest / south Austin area to continue to go unbuilt, while supporting projects in "the middle of no where" to extend Hwy 183A all the way to the San Gabriel river past Leander and spending 100's of millions of dollars in the process.

Hopefully, someday, SH 45 will be a continuous roadway between IH 35 and Hwy 290 West and this would remove a lot of the traffic passing by Granada Hills / Southview Estates on Hwy 290 and also benefit Lewis Mountain / Loma Vista / Circle C by reducing traffic on Slaughter and FM 1826. The SH45 West connection to Hwy 290 West would intersect near to Fitzhugh road. However, without the completion of SH 45 SW, the continuous southern loop of SH 45 may not be possible. That is why our neighborhood, and other neighborhoods around Granada, should be supportive of SH 45 SW.

If you plan to attend the rally on Friday, please email Vikki Goodwin of the Shady Hollow Neighborhoods "Build SH 45 SW" group at vgoodwin@austin.rr.com
