Because he is the President of OUR country attempting to inspire OUR children. Why would we even think we would need a parents permission to let their child watch a speech made by the President of the United States? If it was Bush or anybody besides Obama, it wouldn't have been a problem at all. It's a little racist in my mind which is gross and it is also gross to see how much our country has been divided by mindless, ignorant people.

I don't know about that. We used to live in Seattle and there would be parents at my son's old school that would have raised the same kind of ruckus about letting Bush address their children (they see GW as a war criminal) so I think it has more to so with partisan politics than racism. Being that TX is more conservative, I am just assuming that we are witnessing the other side of the coin here.
