Hello, we're thinking seriously of moving from LA to Austin. Been looking at homes online and it seems many of them have electric cooktops and heat, not gas. Is that the norm? A minor detail, I know, but I really don't like cooking with electric burners!

thanks,

Gas use is more prevalent than electric for cooking and heating down here and it's way cheaper too! Even if the homes you're conserding now have electric stove tops, the place will have gas outlets for you to switch if you want to. Same thing with the clothes dryers.

Cool, thanks! That's good to know.... we do have a gas dryer, too. Do you think gas is also an option if we go farther out, like Georgetown or Cedar Park?

Absolutely! I have yet to see homes without it for both heating and cooking.
