We are considering moving to the area from Jersey and would want to rent first. We had been looking at the areas of Cedar Park,Round Rock and Leander. We didnt want a complex that had section 8 but also didnt want to spend a huge amount-can anyone recommend a good complex in the area? Thanks

I haven't lived in Round Rock in a while, and never have lived in Cedar Park, but I do know that the best thing might be to contact a house hunter. The people I have used many times are called Habitat Hunters (habitathunters.com) and they do everything from real estate to apartments. There is no charge as the landlord pays all commission. Hope that helps.

If you are looking for an apartment, contact an apartment locator. If you are looking for a house/condo/townhome to lease, contact a Realtor.

Not sure what you consider huge amt or sq footage you're seeking...you will be happier being as close to downtown as possible as that's where a lot of fun things happen. Downtown if overpriced and too close to the college kids for me to live, I live in Arboretum, NW but can get downtown in about 15 minutes in no traffic. Lot's to choose from in price range, fewer students, and a beautiful area with trails and a taste of hill country.

Can you give us a better idea of your budget? What's the most you're willing to spend? What kind of amenities are you looking for? Location will obviously depend on where you're working.

By the way, why does everyone from New Jersey call their state "Jersey?" I always thought Jersey was a place in England.

Hello Margincall,

I moved from New Jersey to Texas about 14 years ago. Boy how time flies. I currently live in Cedar Park and have also lived in Round Rock as well. There are a lot of apartment complex's in and new ones still being built each day even in this economy.

If you can let me know what you were hoping to pay for rent I can do some research for you. You will most likely get the best value in the Round Rock or Pflugerville area as Cedar Park is priced somewhat higher as far as the averages are concerned.

Also in answering passionatearts questions about calling it Jersey. I never call it Jersey unless I am poking fun at where I am from. Personally New Jersey is a beautiful state. I am from the Central/South Jersey area near Cherry Hill just east of Philadelphia. Great area... it's North "Joisey" that gets the bad rap all the time.. and it is somewhat deserved in certain places. Still have a lot of family back there and I definitely miss the Jersey Shore... and I'm not talking about the TV show! Also still an Eagles Fan which is not a good think in these parts either.

Any Realtor can help you find a house, condo, duplex or townhome to lease in the areas you mentioned. A Realtor does not charge a Renter or Buyer a fee, the commission is always paid by the Seller or Landlord. So having someone on your side is a good idea and costs you nothing. It is smart to rent in a neighborhood before you buy so you know if that is really where you want to live forever. Good luck & welcome to Texas!
