This was on my mind on a late autumn day that was cold and rainy, as I scrambled ill prepared for the elements through mud and horse crap to the top of Mt. Stirling and Craig's Hut:
THis is really old, from back in the 1980s & 1990s:
....but Weddings/Parties/Anything was a great band from Australia.
Half the time I didnt understand what they were singing about (thank god for google), but I really liked their stuff. Sort of this folk rock with attitude...but also the guy doesnt always get the girl in their songs.
I found out about them very indirectly via the Billy Bragg (who is English) fan site...BB had a lot of Australian fans, who turned me on to this band...pretty totally unknown in the 'states.
The Triffids' "Wide Open Road" and Hunters & Collectors "Betty's Worry or The Slab" are not great video but the songs are so resolutely and beautifully Australian.
