It's doubtful that the Europeans will ever go back, and leave it to the Aboriginal residents again at this point though. Pretty moot, I'd say.
You seem to suffer from some degree of guilt over the past. You cannot undo the wrongdoings of the past by making bad decisions today. Look where that is landing Germany as we speak.

You don't even know my ethnicity. What guilt?
Besides, Australia isn't Germany. Australia has the advantage of more control over its borders and its immigration intake. Europe's issues are completely different... apples vs. oranges.

I have zero clue as to your ethnicity, nor is it relevant. When you allude to giving the land back to the Aboriginal people, it comes across as if you feel that modern day Australians have no claim to the land, or least that they should feel some degree of guilt for owning it.
The issue is not immigration. Immigration is good, regardless of the ethnicity of the immigrant; as long as the new immigrant is of the mind to adopt a new culture. It is multiculturalism that is the problem. When immigrants identify first as being from their country of origin, it's a bit problematic. When their children identify first as being from their parent's country of origin, you have the building blocks of a self-segregating population. That is the problem with multiculturalism. Assimilation is a far better approach.

What--did Europeans "assimilate" by adopting Aboriginal culture? Maybe to a limited extent, but not really... modern western cultures are a hodgepodge of influences, like the U.S. "melting pot"... each new wave of immigrants brings a bit of their own culture, and something new develops...newcomers and their perspectives all add to the flavour of the melting pot. It's all good. White Australia was not a policy that helped Australia. What My Grandmother Brought With Her When She Fled Nazi Germany – Tablet Magazine

The Europeans basically assimilated nothing of the Aboriginal culture, but instead delivered their own new culture. Displacement is exactly what you get when there is a failure to assimilate.
Multiculturalism is not about the Italians bringing pasta or the Mexicans bringing tacos to a new land. That is a melting pot. Multiculturalism is about maintaining your old culture, your old language, your old values, etc and passing it all on to your children in a new place while theoretically coexisting with other cultures. If no common culture is adopted, at best you have self-segregation, but more likely an eventual clash of cultures or worse.

I see what you're saying, I just happen to disagree with it. Wholeheartedly.
Australia could have several times its population, from whatever ethnicity.... and the world would be better for it.
IMO.
