How do some of you go through so many cars? No judgements ... just curious. I'm on car #6 since 1975.
Mostly by buying a string of old, cheap used cars that only last so long before moving on to the next old, cheap used car. Of the numerous cars I have bought over the years, only one was new, and only one other was a low-mileage, late-model car.
4 in 10 years. Current ones lasted me 5 of those though. Crashed first, second died, third I never really liked so sold, current one still just about works.

I like it!
@ Chango: It is not a matter if "going through" a car. In our instance, we are "car people". 2 Drivers and usually have 4 garaged. Some are daily drivers, others are for Sunday Drives and/or car shows. Those will never see a bit of rain. Hubby lives and breathes cars...I tag along on the "can't beat 'em, join 'em theory. He'll drive a car for awhile ( could be a yr...could be a matter of months or until someone offers him more than he paid) until he tires of it and then moves on to the next. The search and find is part of the fun process. He's in the mist of a search now....

1990 Honda Civic - First car, went half and half with my parents to buy it in high school in 96, and drove it until it was pretty much done.
2004 Acura TSX - Bought (Financed it) slightly used in 2005, so I saved some money on the depreciation. Paid off now, and I still love the car. It still feels new, I will keep it for years.
Even though I love my TSX and bought it used, looking back I would have probably bought a cheaper car that I didn't need to finance. I will never finance a car again, there are much better investments I can make with that money.
I'm going to be 48 on Tuesday, and since I'm not really a car person, my list is short -
'74 AMC Gremlin (Yeah, I know; my father bought it for me. It was my first car! Yuck.)
'73 Pontiac Firebird (What an improvement over the Gremlin! I loved this car, and drove it for many years.)
?? Chevy Caprice Classic (I forget what year. It was old, it was a boat, and it was dark purple!).
'82 Pontiac Phoenix (The head gasket blew, and I spent $800 to fix a car worth $500!)
'92 Plymouth Colt (my first brand new car! Basic car, nothing fancy. No a/c, etc.)
'02 Toyota Corolla CE (Yay, a/c, power steering and power brakes!)
'12 Mazda 3 iSport (power door locks and windows and a CD player!)
