To compete in car shows?

Another one, is tractor paint. some people have had good results, but really only 3 colors, black, white and red.

I had considered trying to mix black and white and get a dark gray, when I was looking at getting a beater Cherokee, alot of faded ones out there.

yeah, and the paint still only lasts a handful of years in the southwest, and it has to be redone again at a cost of $12,000 due to inflation. thanks but no thanks, i will use rustoleum or fleet x or even dupli-color paint shop paint. if i want to splurge, i will get some low cost PPG or dupont paint. i will leave the high cost PPG and dupont paints to the pros and the nuts that want a high end show quality paint job, and let them cringe every time they take the car out for a drive.

Also there is the ability to "fix" paint.

The nose of my 2000 beater Camaro, the clearcoat was peeling and paint was faded bad. I masked off an area, tried to "blend" into seems. Then I very lightly sanded, prepped and used rattle can

Once again, not a show winner, but looks a million times better IMO... most people that saw the difference complement it.

Before...

After...some sanding...

I knew a guy who hand painted his old (1973) T-Bird with a brush back in thr 80's

Believe it or not, didn't look that bad.

I am going to do my project with equipment enamel and on the final coat I will add a paint hardener. I will use Ford tractor dark blue.

People forget what a good buff job, claybar and wax can do to make a car look new again. And if 90% of the car looks good it hides some of the imperfections.
