Don't get me wrong, I like the new styling of the latest VW Passat, i'd buy one but I know chances are its going to be a turd so its off my list.
I had to find this out from experience. The 1994 Mercury Sable I owned for a short while maintained better than the 2000 VW Beetle and 2003 Audi A4 Quattro Turbo I've owned after the fact. I am thinking of going Honda. I would go Hyundai but they have no deals which compare to Honda at the moment.

Nope, but parents who were willing to cosign did

It's a 2011 LX...I love that little car

The cheapest lease deals that I have seen are $99/ monthj on low-end Nissan Versas. I am not sure that I would recommend them as they seem to wear poorly IMO.

Ideally I want a Hyundai but I doubt I am going to get a no-money-down lease that is A. under $200/month and B. where I need less than 1k at signing. The cheapest no-money-down Honda lease I saw advertised locally in Bergen County was one for a 2012 Civic Sedan. It is $159/month or $169/month.
