Hi City Guy 997S--

I like how you think. I've repeatedly mentioned the Ford GT, Corvette Z06, and Boss 302 as cars that would be in my man cave.

i chose my 2012 Yaris as a creature of habit. My folks got their first Camry in 1985, i got my first Tercel in 1988, traded it in for a 92 Tercel which i donated at 20 years (and someone actually bought it from Cars 4 Kids for over $500). I test drove a loaded Yaris, found it uneventful but I don't need excitement from a car. I sat in a base Yaris and liked the high seating position and upholstery and noticed it had power locks. I like the appearance and it looks better and better every day. I could have gotten the Scion that looks like the old Datsun 240Z but i didn't want to spend more and the Yaris has more room. Except for a soft ride that is a bit harsh on bumps and a buzzy exhaust drone, I love the car. many people don't but i don't care

To answer the OP'S original question, I can sum it up in just two words, Style and Class.

Bob.

One of my favorite cars was a blue 64 T-Bird convertible... it was the very first car I ever drove by myself... (Not on public roads)

I stood in awe just watching the top go up and down...

Dad sold it for $1300 because he was afraid something would break and it would cost more to fix than the car was worth... tried to buy it from him for cash... he said I would thank him later

I was 14

It's the car on my wish list since I saw one at a motor show in 1990. I suppose it's a realisation of a dream to some extent. My other cars will come and go over the years but this one wont.

With the amount of people that just see a car as a mode of transportation, nothing more, nothing less is the reason why todays cars are bland and boring and all look the same. Not that there is anything wrong with wanting a mode of transportation but people used to take pride in the cars they owned. I find it difficult anymore to even find a new car that is anything but boring and bland so when it comes time for shopping my choices are very limited.

Before researching fuel economy, reviews, options, prices, I narrow it down to the different makes of a car id be willing to own. Once I have that in place I narrow it down to different models. Then I test drive them and see which ones I liked and fall into the better gas mileage category, the one with better reviews, etc...

Are there cars that are far less expensive that also suit my needs? of course, but id get bored driving it after a week and regret buying it. In fact ive had rental cars for several days before that would 100% suit my needs but I hated the way it looked and did not enjoy driving it. I want to love the car I own and have a connection with it. A car is far more than something to get me from point A to point B it is an extension of who I am.

we still view our cars as having to cover certain needs. Our suv has to be able to pull a boat and on occasion haul "x" # of people. Our car is our main driver. But that doesnt mean we cant make sure the suv has certain comfort features we enjoy if it falls in our expected budget, and the car is also a toy, so since that's the case and again it falls into our overall budget (cost, ins, mpg, etc), then why not drive something that can also put a smile on one's face while getting from A to B?

I enjoy cars, and being 50 am old enough to have had the joy of driving some classic iron before the smog crap killed performance all those years. Mix in over the past decades owning econo cars, mini vans, trucks, and the occasional toy as well, and no matter what we had at the time we still made sure it not only fit our needs but was something we wanted to get in and drive as well...

My brother gave it to me and it has been my most vehicle yet! He gave it to me about a year and a half ago when the vehicle I had decided it wanted to be a big jerk.

I had no idea I was a Jeep girl, but now I know!

I love love love love love love cars.
Have since I was 3 years old.
So anything I drive will be an extension of myself.

Interestingly, I have loved my trucks/suvs as much as my sports cars.
So I have had one of each for the last 10 years...it's nice to switch out depending on my mood or what kind of errand I need to run or the weather, etc.

i always did love cars growing up and being 50 that allowed me to grow up with some awesome iron in our driveways. Recently my wife and I picked up an '11 mustang convertible for a fun touring car out here, and at same time i found a slide (yes those of a younger generation, many times pix were on slides.... not facebook lol) of myself as a small boy about 47 yrs ago, behind the wheel of my first "Mustang". Yep i still smile when i'm driving something i like, and i sure wish i had that original pedal car now lol
