Because there is also something else called as acceleration. It matters to me how I achieve that 55mph. I can go 0-100 (or 65 for legal matters) in the same time a 20k family saloon will reach 40 mph.

Wow. That might save 0.3 seconds getting up to speed.

If you want acceleration, just buy any 1200cc motorcycle for far less money.

Yes, they maybe showing off. Or they like having the space. Or the convenience of having a bathroom no more than five steps away. Or the ability to have many people stay over. Or they like the neighborhood and it's the only house available. Or to keep up with the Joneses because it's a symbol of success.

when you buy a 300k Ferrari, you already have access to a track and can always utilize the potential of the car there.

When you buy the Ferrari, you get to experience the acceleration and not only the top speed.
Going 40-55 mph in a Ferrari 2 nd gear pull will put a smile on your face. Everytime. It'll never get old.

Its not a financial decision or one dictated by speed limits or physical legal limits of the highway system. Its a lifestyle choice.

Let me sum up what a fair few people on here think on this subject...

"We(I) buy prestige/performance vehicles because that's what we(I) enjoy and what we(I) can afford. We(I) don't give a flying *uck what any of the whinging, whining naysayers think on the subject as you wont be convinced of our opinion and unsurprisingly nor will we(I) of yours".

Thank you.

I might have missed a point. 40- 55 mph in fraction of a second is far more exciting than 0-60 in 10 seconds in a camry. More so when it happens at 9000 rpm with a high strung V8.

I think, that sums it up.

Sadly though, I can assure you, hundred of similar threads will be launched by desperate A-B commuters who cannot, for the life of theirs, wrap their head around a performance / luxury badge.
