I do and it change my life. I do that already for 7 years. I have bunch of keys in one pocket and I take a separate key for car that I plan to drive and use that separate one. No more thinking if I will lock key.
I use a hide-a-key box and stick it in the frame rails or bumpers. They are not only good for when keys are locked in cars but if someone wants to move/borrow the vehicle and I am out of town with the key sets.
Speak of obsessions..
I simply have car key on a neck string. Key and string are next to wallet, along with office keys and badges, also on the string. It's all in one place and is virtually impossible to forget.
Of course, my car has key fob, not key. That's how I can allow myself simply hang that ke/foby on my neck, and she knows "master is here".
No way. My only spare key is at home. In the 15 years I've owned my car, I've locked myself out exactly 1 time. I called my mom (husband was at work and not available), and she came and got me and drove me to my house to get the spare and back to the car.
Ironically, the one time I have locked myself out was when I drove to a rental with the spare key because the tenant had locked themselves out of their house. /sigh
I have the spare for my husband's car. He's not locked himself out of his car yet in the 7 years he's had it.
Now if I did a lot of driving into rural areas, I might consider carrying an extra key, just in case. But around town, worst case scenario, I have AAA.
