Just saw this question asked on a morning show. It made me think that when we were younger we did call our cars by a nickname. We had a huge boat of a '72 Ford LTD, silver in color that we called "The Tuna", after a tuna boat. Loved that car but honestly the hood felt like a mile long when you were behind the wheel. Also the touchiest steering ever.
In '67 we bought a 1965 red Chevy Impala Super Sport convertible that we promptly nicknamed "Red-eze." Still have her after 46 years and still call her that.
A neighbor had a beater of an old yellow pickup that he referred to as "Old Yeller."
I think once we started naming our kids we quit naming our cars. Now that we're old we drive SUVs and just call them easy to get in and out of. Do you have names for your vehicles?
I've never named my cars. I've called them a "nickname", but one that was common to go with the car. For instance, I would sometimes refer to my GTO as the "goat" (hence the screenname), but I am hardly the only person to call a GTO a "goat". I once referred to my old Malibu as a "Bu" at which point my wife slapped me and said don't be ridiculous...lol.
Love all these nicknames, and I'd have slapped you too NJGOAT - funny!!
