What is the worst thing you have done while driving a rental car?

The worst thing I have done in a rental is flooring the accelerator and taking the car up to about 95 mph and then slamming on the brakes as hard as I could to see how many seconds it took to stop. I did this over and over again until I knew the car was beaten. I did this last year in a Dodge Stratus I rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

While I've never done anything to intentionally abuse a rental car, I do know of someone who put a 300 horsepower nitrous kit on a rental car. After several passes at the drag strip the motor blew (big surprise). He then proceeded to remove the nitrous kit, have the car towed to some other place and reported the car as broken down to the rental car agency. They exchanged it for another with few questions.

This, combined with other things I've heard is one reason I would never buy a leased or rental car.

How long did it take to stop from 95 mph?

We drove 20 miles with the e-brake slightly engaged. We were pissed because they gave us the biggest POS Nissan Sentra (aka the slowest thing on earth). When we got to our destination, the back brakes were smoking so bad that it was filling up the car with smoke. lol What can I say, I was young and dumb.

Loaded it full of possessions I couldn't trust the moving company with, then drove it 550 miles. That thing was stuffed to the gills.

My husband and his friends took his rented SUV offroading in the mountains one time. It was so funny when he went to turn it back in he was at the gas station pulling grass and dirt out of the bottom of the truck so he wouldn't get caught.

In Portugal I put diesal fuel into a regular gas car and drove it for 300 miles running on maybe one sputtering piston before it died completely. They didn't appreciate that to much, had to ride a tow truck with a smelly portuguese and pay a couple hundred euros to fix it.
I would do "speed tests" in rental cars all the time - rental grand am's and grand prix - pitiful, they have speed limiters at 95 MPH. rental Mustangs - pitifully slow as well, but that rear wheel drive means you can do some great donuts.
In florida I wiped out the passenger side mirror on a contruction barrel - nothing left but the wires sticking out. Suprisingly they never charged me for that one.
