I got very, very lucky with a high mileage purchase once. Back in September of 1995, I was delivering pizza and needed to say goodbye to my 1983 Malibu wagon. It's 1986 350 4 barrel loved gas. lol. Anyway, from the original owner, a retired Cincinnati police officer and his wife, I bought a gold, two door hatchback, 1984 Toyota Tercel. AC, 5-speed, rear wiper, no power steering. It had 150,000 on it. I drove it until April of 1997, when I traded it in on a newer car. It had 198,000 on it, still ran perfectly. No rust, no smoke, no leaks, and the ac was ice cold. During that time, replaced the cv joints, and a starter. Nothing more. Great little car.
